Flat roofs

A flat roof is a roof which is almost level in contrast to the usual type of roofs on a property. The slope of a roof is properly known as its pitch and flat roofs have up to approximately 10°, this is to allow the rainwater to drain away.

There are three main types of flat roofing system available:

Felt (mineral) - EPDM Rubber - GRP Fibreglass

Flat roofs are generally used for sheds, garages, some outbuildings and across bay windows to name a few.

Each material has differing life spans and therefore, differing costs. There are choices to suit budgets.

About us

We take pride in the quality of our flat roofing work. Our roofers only use the finest materials and equipment and every product we install, from felt roofing and single ply membranes to slating and tiling, is guaranteed to provide reliable and effective property protection for many years to come. Our roofers will work tirelessly to get the roofing that you require installed to the highest quality.

Felt

A traditional felt roof is a flat roof surface that is built up using a wooden base and adding 2-3 layers of bitumous felt. These are then bonded together with heated bitumen and are subject to a finishing top coat that provdes both and attractive surface whilst helping  protect the new roof from the elements. This type of roof forms a dense and impermeable barrier to the elements.

The cheapest of the flat roofing materials and life spans of approximately 6 - 8 years, may last longer if maintained.

Fibreglass

Fibreglass is made from tough resins and is the ideal solution for all GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) flat roofing problems.  It can be used on all flat roofs - from garages, outbuildings, extensions, and balconies.

Replacing the traditional Felt roofing surface with a fibreglass flat roofing system will last for many years, unlike the traditional felt roofing system.  It may be a little more expensive to install, however, but it will work out cheaper in the long run.  The product has been tried and tested throughout the industry.

Firbreglass is the most expensive of the flat roofing material, however, it is much longer lasting.

Rubber

Firestone Rubber Cover EPDM Roofing System is the ideal, durable solution for small residential flat roofs such as: extensions, verandas, dormers, porches, garages, carports, garden sheds, balconies, bay window roofs and outbuildings.  We are fully trained in the expert application of this product and will give you a 25 year guarantee on all full installations for your peace of mind. Reliable and long lasting and a popular product.
